Locknation Virtual Thinking Cloths
Virtual Thinking Cloths are based on the “Thinking Cloth” idea from Jonathan Stroud’s books, where Lucy, George and Lockwood exchange ideas through notes and doodles on the kitchen table cloth.
The LockNation Virtual Thinking Cloths are part of a collaborative art project which anyone can take part in.
Organised by @lavenderghostco on Twitter, Virtual Thinking Cloths are usually scheduled to coincide with international holidays or calendar events. E.g. Valentine’s Day or Christmas. LockNation members are told in advance the theme of the VTC and the submission deadline. Fans then create small doodles related to the theme and DM the images to @lavenderghostco. Lav then edits the doodles into one big image, which is published to Twitter on the relevant day. A hashtag is usually dedicated to the day of the unveiling.
On the day of the January 2024 London Meet, two physical Thinking Cloths were left on tables at the Whirled Cinema for people to contribute doodles. A similar idea has also been used at fan expos and conventions in the United States.
